• For those of us who ENJOY watching PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL via the NFL, I hate to admit this but WE have been DECEIVED into IDOLATRY…

I’ve been noticing this DISTURBING trend for well over a decade…

    SATAN is sooooo DECEPTIVE…

    Let’s review a typical NFL week…

Sunday (3 games) 1pm, 4pm, 7pm- Football PREGAME shows start at 8 am until the start of the first game- EACH game last 3 hours…

    *3 hours-remember that…* 👆🏾🙄

Monday night football (1 game WEEKLY-4 weeks during the season have 2 games) starts 8pm…

Thursday night football (1 game WEEKLY-) starts at 8pm…

THANKSgiving day (3 games) starts at 12:30pm until 11:30 pm…

CHRISTmas Day- (3 games on a Thursday this year) starts at 1pm until 11:15pm….

    Don’t forget the PRE-game shows…

    *Christmas👆🏾…THINK about that…*

    And then the playoffs begin…

Season length including Preseason: August-February = 7 Months

Those who participate in FANTASY FOOTBALL whether FREE or PAID (over 92 MILLION Americans), are CONSUMED with managing a “Make Believe” team or MULTIPLE teams during the week in between games as if it were a PART-TIME job.

The average fan spends 2 + hours WEEKLY doing that 😳

You can’t forget tuning in DAILY to see what STEPHEN A. SMITH, a plethora of ESPN / FOX sports shows and our favorite YouTube Channels have to say during the week.

You can EASILY add an additional 5-20 hours WEEKLY with this…

You do realize no one is getting paid a salary by the TEAMS to watch their games and talk shows but instead WE PAY to watch them… 🤔

GAMBLING your MONEY through FanDuel and DraftKings is NOT to be considered a “paid salary”…

In just NFL viewership time alone, the average FAN spends close to 20 hours WEEKLY consuming some type of content regarding the NFL.

There’s only 168 hours in the week which means 12% of our week is dedicated to ONE SPORT…

This isn’t even taking into account COLLEGE football ALL DAY SATURDAY…

Not to forget all the OTHER professional sports leagues such as: NBA, UFC, MLB, NHL, PGA GOLF TOUR, TENNIS and other COLLEGIATE sports…

We are “round the clock” being ENTICED to fill our days with things that have NO ETERNAL VALUE and are merely DISTRACTIONS from what God desires us to focus on…

Can we honestly say we are spending at a MINIMUM 12% or 20 hours of the REST of our week with JESUS???

For 90% of AMERICAN Christians the answer is a resounding NO…

And we wonder why our disturbing MENTAL HEALTH rates are SPIRALING out of control…

    Just think…👇🏾

If we spent 20 hours a week STUDYING and MEDITATING on the SCRIPTURES…

Our LIFESTYLES, DESIRES and CONVERSATIONS would change so DRAMATICALLY, Non-believers would notice a SIGNIFICANT difference even if they didn’t hear the NAME of JESUS…

“Brother Gavilan you’re being too LEGALISTIC and need to extend more GRACE. We all have SINNED and FALL short…”

If you are thinking 👆🏾, I agree God could possibly be gracious and not concerned with this type of entertainment consumption from those who CLAIM to be His POSSESSION, but what if we die and find out he was NOT pleased…

It’s a little too late at that point to use the classic line…

    “See what had happened was…”

I have NO interest in playing “HEAVEN ROULETTE” to find out…

    Consider this…👇🏾

Many American churches have been SLOWLY scaling BACK and CONDENSING the SUNDAY service duration times to cater to SPORTS DRIVEN MEN for the last 3 DECADES now in fear of losing the few they have that actually attend regularly who are not apart of the leadership staff in some capacity…

My 83-year-old Grandma who LOVES the NFL even acknowledged this…👆🏾

    Now think about this…👇🏾

We have ZERO PROBLEM maintaining our attention span to watch a 3-hour game on the EDGE of our seats PRAYING for OVERTIME but we want our local Pastor to preach a TikTok SERMON in 25 minutes or less! 😏

    Make that make sense…

If the Pastor doesn’t, we will begin a search for a new church that caters more to our liking….

Reminds me of the CLASSIC Burger King slogan, “Have it your way”

Can you imagine a FIRST-Century  believer walking up to the Apostle Paul right after his sermon on the Lord’s day saying:

“Hey Brother Paul your sermon about NOT conforming to the World was FANTASTIC 🙌🏾, but next week can you trim the message length down some?

The Roman GLADIATOR fights start at NOON on SUNDAYS…”

Some Churches have actually POPULARIZED over the last few decades the CELEBRATION of NFL team WINS and have begun ENCOURAGING members to watch games and even wear their FAVORITE team’s jerseys  periodically on SUNDAYS throughout the NFL SEASON and many have even begun to conduct SUPER BOWL PARTIES in the name of Christian fun and fellowship…

Do you think the Apostle Peter, James and John along with other FIRST century Christians got together to ROOT on their favorite ROMAN GLADIATORS for the weekly FIGHT DAY at the local AMPHITHEATER with some Lemon-Pepper WINGS and a cooler FULL of ICE-cold BUDWEISERS???

    No…

Do you think STEPHEN the Deacon before being MARTYRED went around wearing his FAVORITE GLADIATOR JERSEY during the WEEK talking and boasting to other believers living in JERUSALEM about the latest 4-match winning streak of his most BELOVED fighter “Maximus” and how their favorite gladiators SUCK in comparison???

    ABSOLUTELY NOT…

Do you think the Apostle Paul would have been ecstatic to hear while sitting in PRISON in CHAINS that GENTILE BELIEVERS were paying LARGE sums of MONEY to ATTEND or ACCESS the next ROMAN GLADIATOR event while CHRISTIANS in Jerusalem were experiencing FAMINE and many others within the church had needs???

You already know the answer 👆🏾

This is just SPORTS but what about all other forms of entertainment and diversion people consume themselves with DAILY…

SOCIAL MEDIA, NEWS OUTLETS, TV/MOVIES, MUSIC, LIVE EVENTS and even OVER-prioritization towards Youth Sports for our kids…

Our FAITH has become the CHERRY on top of the ICE CREAM SUNDAE…

    It’s OPTIONAL…

The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob has become the LIFE INSURANCE policy we ALL know we need but hope to NEVER use and GRUDGINGLY acquire it JUST IN CASE…

For many, JESUS has become the complementary ADDITION and NO LONGER the CORE FOCUS of their lives…

Many AMERICAN CHRISTIANS have substituted BIBLE CONSUMPTION for WORLDLY ENTERTAINMENT…

We need to ask ourselves… 👇🏾

    Is this EN-TERTAIN-MENT

    or EN-TRAP-MENT?

David said in Psalms 1 “the CHRISTIAN man DELIGHTS in God’s Word and he MEDITATES on it DAY and NIGHT”…

I’ve yet to find a BIBLE TRANSLATION that says the Christian’s DELIGHT is to be CONSUMED with things the WORLD considers POPULAR and NORMAL…

What happened to CHRISTIANS being SET APART like in Acts 2 ???

What happened to being a “PECULIAR PEOPLE” as the Apostle Peter said in his first Letter???

Many no longer say within themselves “Maranatha” (Come now Lord)…

    Instead…

We ❤️ it down here on EARTH…

We would prefer to put off Heaven as long as possible or until someone dies and then all of a sudden, HEAVEN becomes a “better place”….

We now declare and say openly in conversations “ACCEPTABLE” things such as:

“It’s a blessing to be alive and ABOVE ground…”,

“I’m believing God for 120 years…”, “I want to go to Heaven but I do NOT want to go TODAY…”

    Which makes me wonder this..👇🏾

If God were to send a CHARIOT from HEAVEN and park it right in front of your DOORSTEP, just like he did ELIJAH, to take you to be with him IMMEDIATELY and FOREVER..

    Would you GET IN…

    or

    would your response be…

“Can you COME BACK in 30 years?”

    Think about that… 👆🏾

Has this been the “CHRISTIAN STANCE” for previous GENERATIONS prior to the TWENTIETH CENTURY ???

    No…

Were Christians saying these type of things during the Roman Empire while knowing they would eventually be PERSECUTED, TORTURED and/or MARTYRED???

    No…

Which leads me back to this… 👇🏾

Am I saying we should ABANDON watching all professional sports?

    No…

But where do we draw the line???

    Where is YOUR line???

Did Holy Spirit draw it or did you???

Are we deciding what is PERMISSIBLE in our lives based on our “feelings” and then MASKING it with the FAMOUS PHRASE…

    “God told me ________________”

I believe it’s time WE return to the God-Intended BLUEPRINT…

  • May 1994

Fall of 1993 my mom tells me we are moving back to Atlanta, Ga…

    This was shocking News…

I was one month into attending a new school Eden Gardens Elementary as a 5th grader.

We had been staying with my grandparents for my 3rd and 4th grade year.

My mom was in a rough situation financially as a single mother having had 3 children ages 8 (me), 2(my sister), and a 1 month old son (my little brother).

At this particular time being 8, I didn’t understand my mother’s financial situation and how difficult it was for her.

My mom was not receiving any financial support from any of the fathers…

My mom had a way of masking our poverty to where I believed we were an average family.

    With that being said…

Spending 2 years with my grandparents was definitely an upgrade though.

For one, we had CABLE! 😂

My grandmother cooked almost everyday and she cooked big meals.

I had everything I could dream of as a kid thanks in large part to my now deceased grandfather.

A basketball court, bicycle, a go-kart, my own room and a HUGE yard to do whatever I wanted.

I’m sure it may fall well below 2025 kids standards with no iPads and high tech video games, but for me it was the closest place to Heaven.

But in the fall of 1993, Heaven was on the verge of turning into… Hell.

My mom tells me we are moving back to Atlanta after having left just a few years prior.

My mom was dating a man whom I thought she was going to marry but after receiving that news I quickly realized she wasn’t as fond of him as I thought.

The night of our departure, the realization set in that this was really happening, we were about to leave Shreveport, but more than anything leave my GRANDPARENTS…

Extreme sadness set in that night.

Reflecting back, I’m not sure how I held back the tears…

I wanted to cry. I was extremely emotional but didn’t know how to communicate my feelings with anyone…

One thing that helped me was that my grandparents were going to accompany us to Atlanta as they would drive their own car and we would trail them.

My mom’s guy friend was sad as well. So sad that he trailed our car all the way to the Louisiana state line.

I remember looking back periodically to see his headlights..

I remember having this glimpse of hope that maybe my mom would turn the car around as long as he followed us, but that never happened.

She was driven and determined to start a new life in the Black Mecca..

Where African Americans were and still are known to thrive in more than any other Major American City.

But at 10 years old I didn’t care about promising economic opportunities…

All I cared about were my grandparents…

Looking back I know they cared and were concerned about us too. I know this was difficult for them as much as it was for me..

After the long journey we finally arrived to Atlanta.

There was a lot of uncertainty for me as a kid. My mom had not gone into great details regarding the move.

All she told me was were moving…

Upon arrival, I realized the plan was not fully fleshed out..

    On the contrary…

It was actually nothing but a skeleton…

I remembered us pulling up to a Motel 6..

My mom got out the car and went inside with my grandparents.

They were inside for what seemed like a good while and when my mom re-entered the car she said we were going to look for another place.

I quickly realized we had left Shreveport. A symbol of stability for me at that time to now looking for a temporary place of instability…

Sitting here right now reflecting on this moment of my thoughts as a child then, I have to breathe and hold back the tears…

I wasn’t much of a praying kid back then by any means but I was hoping with all of my heart that my grandparents wouldn’t leave me and would take me back with them…

    I was denied that hope…

We found a hotel and within 24 hours my grandparents were on there way back to Shreveport…

Up to that point, outside of receiving the news just 3 years prior in 1990 that my father was killed in a plane crash, this had become the worst day of my life.

I didn’t hate my mother but I couldn’t make any sense of why we would move to what seemed like a hopeless situation such as this..

She never explained anything to me..

Maybe due to feeling that as a 10 year old I couldn’t comprehend her rationale or maybe she was her battling her own mental challenges and/or stress..

We would go on to bounce around from hotel to hotel for a while…

I still remember one particular day leaving one hotel to go to school and after school checking into a new hotel…

    That was tough for me…

We lived like this for somewhere around 2 months… I don’t remember exactly…

Looking back, I was a pretty emotionally strong kid..

I’m not sure how I kept it together on the surface…

No one knew I was homeless….

Not a student nor the teachers…

I got bullied a lot and made fun of as a kid that school year, but it wasn’t for that…

At some point, my mom reached out to my younger brother’s dad Mark and we went to stay with him.

He lived in a very nice 2 story house not too far from my school Redan Elementary where I attended 5th grade..

    Extremely nice and tranquil neighborhood…

    I really liked it there…

But like other good things that I had got accustomed to at various points in my life , this too would end…

We moved out and moved into a woman’s home who I didn’t know.

She also had a 2 story home, but we were relegated to stay in a single room upstairs together…

I remember our initial walkthrough of her showing us the common areas.

I never felt welcomed in that place. It was in large part due to the owner of that house.

There was one day I remember vividly having gotten some type of stomach virus and woke up next to my mom and siblings vomiting out of control.

I was puking all over the carpet..

I remember my mom rushing me to the bathroom and my head just dipped over the bowl for the longest.

I remember vomiting up everything within me and being in extreme pain.

I had never experienced anything like that in my life.

I remember my mom holding me and rocking me to sleep…

    on the floor….

I would recover after a few days of missing school and life continued on…

Until one day, our life would change forever….

My mom told me that we were moving…

But this time, not to someone else’s house, not another hotel and not back to my brother’s dad house…

    But this time….

    To an empty house…

    Our NEW HOME…

It was around April of 1994…

I remember pulling up to a beautiful brown wooden home on a street with a cul-de-sac at the end…

    I thought I was dreaming…

I remember going through the home…

I thought my mom had secretly won the lottery…

We all had our own rooms with 2 separate living rooms…

It was arguably the greatest house ever built besides the White House…

    At least in my eyes…☺️

As we were moving things in the home…

I saw some kids who appeared to be around my age on the other side of the street about 2 houses down playing basketball…

Which was my favorite sport by far…

I had not played basketball with other kids on a court since the days of living with my grandparents…

Those kids saw me and my mom moving our belongings inside…

One came over and asked if we needed some help…

    About an hour later…

The others came over and asked if I wanted to come play with them…

In that moment, one of my favorite movies of all time still to this day, had just been released “The Sandlot”, came to mind…

Just like Scotty, I was the new kid on the block and being welcomed to the South Woodbridge Trail Neighborhood boys club…

It wasn’t like the He-man woman haters from the Little Rascals but we were definitely a family tight group..

For the first time in my life I finally found myself with a group of kids who accepted me with all of my quirkiness..

Looking back they were just as quirky.. some a little more than I 😂

Here I am, Late spring of 1994…

New friends, new home with my own room and most of all… New Hope..

The purpose of this blog is not principally to give you a snippet of a period of my childhood rather to expose a real issue within many American churches…

    Christian Homelessness…

We went to church frequently on Sundays during my 5th grade year…

I never recall anyone reaching out to offer any assistance to my family…

Now I understand my mom may have played a part in that by not being vocal about her situation with the church..

My mom was a proud black woman who was raised in a middle class EXTREMELY conservative christian family…

She would never allow herself to resort to such means… She would rather sacrifice, pray and find a way to provide…

    And she did…

But I know many families specifically single mothers who are experiencing similar situations….

According the National Christian Foundation, approximately 3.5 million people experience homelessness in the U.S. each year, and a significant portion identify as Christian.

Millions more Christians live in financial hardship, though exact numbers vary by source…

And its not because all of these people are strung out on drugs, blowing their money away or lazy…

My mom worked hard with her own hands making clothes she designed and going to flea markets and festivals every weekend to sell what she could with us alongside her…

Those, like my mother, who are christians believers should be able to seek the church they faithfully attend for food and housing assistance and the church should be ever ready to help…

NO matter the size of the congregation…

Jesus said in his sermon on the mount in Matthew 5, that God’s children “Are the LIGHT of the world. A city set on a hill that can’t be hidden”.

We see this exemplified in the primitive stage of the early church…

Early on we see the great emphasis being put on the brothers and sisters WITHIN THE CHURCH who had physical needs in Acts 2 & 4…

    Nobody came and left Hungry…

No one came and left Homeless…

    They were a family…

It wasn’t SOCIALISM… It was CHRISTIANITY

Fast forward 2,000 years later, for most we don’t even think to check with the members of our churches to see if their are pressing physical needs…

Many of us leave Sunday services with a Laodicean type of mindset….

As Jesus said in Revelation 3:17, “You say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked”…

Perhaps you are offended by this…

Jesus was talking to “Christian” believers…

People who claim to be on their way like Abraham to a “city whose builder and maker is God”…

    Ask yourself this question…

When was the last time you personally searched out to find someone you could assist with a material necesity in your local church???

I know you see people who are visibly in need…

The church was not called to be a socio economic reform organization for the world…

Rather we were called told take care of our own and by showing love to one another this would make us a light to the world…

    And this was the case…

    For the first few centuries….

And then slowly we began to lose our way as the universal church….

It’s time we go back to the blueprint of the Apostles…

Paul said to the church in Rome in chapter 12:13, “When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality”..

James would tell the church in chapter 1:27 of his letter “Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you”…

Peter said in his first letter chapter 4:9 “Show hospitality to one another without grumbling”…

When Agabus stood before the disciples in Antioch in Acts 11 and prophesied that there would be a great famine across the Roman Empire and that the Jewish believers in Jerusalem would be the most affected…

They did no direct those believers to seek out a local food pantry or seek government assistance from the Roman governor over that province …

    On the contrary…

The decision was made to begin collecting an OFFERING OF RELIEF mostly collected by the gentile churches to be sent to them. Paul and Barnabas would take the lead in this ministry need.

Paul would encourage and exhort the believers in CORINTH in his 2 letter (Chapters 8 & 9) to join in on this matter….

According to him, the Macedonian believers were more than willing to assist… even though they were poor themselves…

    This was CHRISTIANITY….

This is what Jesus had in mind then and still does today…

Many of our churches go empty most of the week…

You telling me families especially single mothers and children who are faithful in attendance and service with suddenly no where to go or whom may have been laid off, we can’t allow them to at least utilize one of the rooms in the building to sleep on a cot until a permanent place can be found for them…

We should not be open to only doing things of this manner when there is a devastating NATURAL DISASTER.

While the church can’t solve all of the issues of this fallen world…

We can resolve the issues within the body of christ…

We should not have to wait to get to Heaven for that…

    Being With Jesus

When I think about Heaven and the glimpses that the bible gives us on what that will be like I can’t help but get excited. I believe that’s why they are in scripture so that our anticipation and expectation will supersede anything that this world has to offer. A world of NO pain, suffering, or crime. A place where it will be beautiful and glorious whose builder and maker is God. Much, much, more.

But after studying what I believe we can expect when we transition into eternity over the last several years, all of the things that we can expect to see and experience won’t mean anything if Jesus IS NOT there.

Here’s what I mean when I say that. I’m married to my wife Virginia. She’s a lucky woman indeed 😉 Recently, we went on an amazing trip to San Francisco and I don’t say this because I’m a 49ers fan, but because the city is really beautiful. We did a lot together on this trip for instance riding bikes through cities and across the Golden Gate Bridge, horseback riding, watching sunsets over the ocean, driving mini carts through downtown in rush hour (that’s was totally her idea), museum tours, whale watching, and the list could go on.

I say all that to say if Virginia wasn’t with me, even though I could have still went and did all of those things, I would have had a miserable time. She’s what made it interesting and fun. Us being together and enjoying those things. The same is to be said with Jesus in Heaven. There are some amazing things lying on the other side of this earthly life, some things our finite minds couldn’t comprehend, but what will bring enjoyment in Heaven is not the things to do or see but the CREATOR of the things Himself: Jesus.

Apostle Paul’s desire to be with Christ was so strong, I believe it captivated his thoughts most of the days of His Christian life. He said to the church in Philippi

As long as I’m alive in this body, there is good work for me to do. If I had to choose right now, I hardly know which I’d choose. Hard choice! The desire to break camp here and be with Christ is powerful. Some days I can think of nothing better”.

Think about this for a second. Try to imagine from Paul’s perspective of wanting to be with Christ. All of his sufferings that he told the church in Corinth about in his letters. For instance, being beaten with rods on 3 separate occasions by the Roman guards. Not to forget on 5 different occasions being whipped by the Jews receiving 39 lashes usually for what they would deem as punishment for Blasphemy. The list of some of his sufferings goes on and on (2 Corinthians 11:24-28, 1 Corinthians 4:11-13). Despite ALL of that, he still had a desire to remain on earth for the sake of the people to help them grow and mature in the Lord. Yet the daily thought of being united with his master for all of eternity I believe is what kept him going and motivated. Knowing that one day the man Jesus who appeared to him on the road to Damascus would not respond with the words “Saul, Saul, Why are you persecuting me” , but instead would hear “Paul, Paul, Well Done thou GOOD and FAITHFUL servant.

Unlike the 12 apostles, Paul did not get to spend 3 years with Jesus. He didn’t have the same experience like they did. Much of what he learned about what happened was passed down to him from them (1 Corinthians 15:3). Much like the same with you and I. I’ve heard of cases where people say Jesus has appeared to them or they heard an audible voice, but for the most part the MAJORITY of us have not experienced Jesus the way his first century followers did. We’ve spent our lives praying by faith being led by the Holy spirit in our hearts.

Paul later on would get his head chopped off by the Roman emperor Nero. Just imagine 5 seconds after his death finally standing before the man he had been serving on earth for almost 30 years. Being united with the person he tirelessly preached about hoping for the salvation for not only all of Israel , but all of mankind. I can only imagine what that must have felt like for him and Jesus. I think much the same for myself. I think about that first time of being able to hear him speak and hug Jesus. What a feeling that will be! The closest thing I could compare this too would be with my wife. Now normally we’re only separated for a few hours because of work, but in the early part of 2015 our older daughter had a heart failure and would require a transplant in a different state. Because of this situation and with us having other kids, it forced us to have to separate. Sometimes for as long as 2 weeks and let me tell you seeing her those times and being able to embrace her was something special. Now that was only 2 weeks, imagine 40,50,60 years and so on being down on earth everyday like many of us. Gathering on Sundays to hear and talk about our lord and savior. Leading up unto the day which is destined for all of us should Christ not come back first which is passing from death to life. That moment, those years, the centuries to follow with Christ will be more enjoyable than anything you’ve ever experienced on earth (Psalms 16:11)

    Consider this…

What did Jesus primarily do with his disciples while he was here on earth? TEACH

Even after he was gone, Holy Spirit continued as promised by Jesus to teach and lead them into all truth (John 16:12-13). Revealing Christ to them and how he must suffer throughout the old testament while also showing them what to expect in the coming future.

    This is the real kicker:

We will be learning throughout all of ETERNITY.

Some people believe that all of a sudden once we transition we will know ALL THINGS. The verse to support this idea is usually from 1 Corinthians 13:8-9. Paul is not telling these believers that after death we will become omniscient (all-knowing) like God. What he is saying is that we will no longer be split and confused with various opinions about God’s Word. There won’t be a need for a diversity of denominations because the person who work in the bible makes it hard for us to see eye to eye at times will be personally teaching us HIMSELF. The ONLY person who is said to be and will be omniscient is God (Isaiah 46:9-10).

What Kinds of things will we learn?

In Genesis 2 I believe we get a glimpse of what is to come in eternity. Its evident that God had to TEACH Adam certain things. He gave Adam a job to which Adam didn’t know what that was and had never worked before. That requires being TAUGHT. God also gave Adam a wife. Adam had never had a wife. God had to TEACH  him how to put up with her mess……

    JUST KIDDING LOL

Seriously though, He had to be explained EVERTHING. From his and her body parts including what they do. Also how to have SEX! Yes I said it. Why would you assume they would know what to do? Now only that but how to dwell with her according to knowledge (1 Peter 3:7). He had many different NEEDS from her and he needed to be TAUGHT that. Not to mention how to work and tend to the garden, raising kids, learning about the animals, how to swim, and the list could go on. What I’m trying to show you is that Adam being New to this beautiful world had a lot to learn. Likewise, You and I being new to a re-created New Heaven and Earth, will have a TON to learn and we get all of eternity to do it!

The other day I asked a co-worker of mine who is a Christian did she ever think she would get the opportunity to travel to Jupiter before she dies. Having a strange look and knowing I was up to something she responded No and that she didn’t want to go! I laughed. She responding by asking why? I said that when we look into the skies and see the sun, moon, and stars. Not to forget if you can afford a good telescope some of the nearby planets. We’ve only been able to see some of these things, but we know NOTHING about them. What about being explained the innermost workings by the creator himself.  You talk about being in awe! I don’t want to go to far down that road because it will lead into the 4th part of the series.

EVERYDAY we will be learning something new and it won’t be boring or get tiresome. It will captivate us and have us wanting to know more. Jesus will be the most fascinating person we will have ever listened to. He will intrigue us in a way never experience. We won’t ever want to leave his physical presence and when we do head off to go do other things we will be looking forward to the time to reunite again.

    Think about this

In 3 years of earthly ministry, He has captivated the minds of billions of people over the last 2,000 years which include believers and non-believers.

    In Just 3 years!?!

We haven’t even seen him and he has caused this effect. Imagine actually being with him physically everyday…. We will need another word for CAPTIVATION at that point but the good news is that He will TEACH us that too.

As the church has progressed throughout the centuries, we are heading towards the GREAT Wedding. I loooove weddings especially the reception.

Biblically, the church (God’s People) are described in different ways throughout the scriptures to portray our relationship to Jesus. The one I like most is how our relationship is like a marriage whereas we are portrayed as the Bride while Christ is portrayed as the Groomsmen. Typically in Jewish custom, after the proposal was accepted by the future bride the groom would say something like “ I am going to prepare a place for you “, and  “I will return for you when it is ready”.   The usual practice was for the young man to return to his father’s house and build an additional room there. He was not allowed to skimp on the work and had to get his father’s approval before he could consider it ready for his bride. The place to which the bride was to be taken had to be BETTER than the place she had lived before. If asked the date of his wedding he would have to reply, “Only my father knows.”

Meanwhile the bride would be making herself ready so that she would be pure and beautiful for her bridegroom. During this time of waiting she would wear a veil when she went out to show she was spoken for (she has been bought with a price).

As we the church are the bride in wait, our groomsman Jesus has gone off to prepare an AMAZING place for us (John 14:2-4). We will spend all of eternity in his presence doing a lot of AMAZING things that scripture reveals and I will point out later.  We will be looking forward to the next day more than the former. Never getting enough of our Savior.

  • A few years ago, a friend of the family came over to visit. She asked if she could gain my viewpoint on a particular situation.
She told me that she was previously in a relationship with a Jehovah’s witness. Although he had not been practicing as an adult and was not regularly attending services, nevertheless he had grown up and been raised as a Jehovah’s witness. Also, he still held strongly to many areas of the doctrine taught by the Jehovah’s witnesses.

She said previously they had been sexually active and knew that was wrong, but because of the duration of the relationship and the fun times they had shared, she had fallen in love with him. She later went on to tell me that she stopped the relationship because of the guilt she sensed and over time has reconsidered beginning to date him again only if they remain abstinent.

Her question then to me was:

“Gavilan, if we remain abstinent, do you feel that it is ok to date and possibly marry a Jehovah’s witness?

Now to say that I was surprised by the question would have been an understatement primarily because she attends a Southern Baptist Church REGULARLY. I myself having spent 8 years attending Southern Baptist American and Hispanic churches, am very familiar with the style of teaching which is labeled by many in Christian circles as “fundamentalism” which is the direct opposite versus “Liberalism”.
Because of this and her background, it was difficult for me to formulate an answer without saying something harsh immediately.
Then on the other hand, I thought about the state of many churches I have been apart of or have seen and can attest to the large amount of women attendee’s in comparison with their men counterpart.

According to USA Today, “Women outnumber men in attendance in every major Christian denomination, and they are 20% to 25% more likely to attend worship at least weekly.” The 2001 U.S. Congregational Life Survey (USCLS) confirms those statistics. Their survey revealed that an average American congregation is roughly 61% female and 39% male.
Finding a Christian man can be challenging for many women, especially a Christian man who is active in his faith with Jesus.

Thinking about these things, I could understand why she was considering this. I mentioned to her certain scriptures that are very straight to the point like for instance 2 Corinthians 6:14-17 (Message Translation)

Don’t become partners with those who reject God. How can you make a partnership out of right and wrong? That’s not partnership; that’s war. Is light best friends with dark? Does Christ go strolling with the Devil? Do trust and mistrust hold hands? Who would think of setting up pagan idols in God’s holy Temple?

She was familiar with the passage, but quickly brought up that he is not a total rejecter of God.

    That’s actually not true….

Jehovah’s Witnesses do in fact reject that Jesus was God in flesh.
John 1:1 in every orthodox translation I have ever read, reads something along the lines of:
“In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the Word WAS God”.
Verse 14 ends up revealing that the Word in fact was Jesus.
But in the New World Bible, the Jehovah Witness’s translation, has one changed Word that alters the ENTIRE meaning of “their New Testament”.
    Theirs reads:
“In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the Word was A god.
    Subtle difference, but huge ramifications…

In the book published by the Watch Tower Tract and Bible Society and distributed by Jehovah’s Witnesses is basically their additional bible which actually lays out all of their teachings. The book is called “What does the Bible REALLY teach?”

    JW book

On page 41, Jesus is listed as a “Spirit Creature“. On pages 98-100, Satan and other demons are also listed as Spirit Creatures.
On pages 218-219, Jesus is taught to be Michael the Archangel which makes him a Spirit Creature!

This view is totally different from what we read not only in John 1:1, but also other passages of scripture where the divinity of Jesus is so clearly displayed that an Unbeliever could at least agree that that is what the bible is saying.

    Scriptures like Philippians 2:5-7:

Think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus thought of himself. He had equal status with God but didn’t think so much of himself that he had to cling to the advantages of that status no matter what. Not at all. When the time came, he set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, becoming human!

Talking to religious leaders of his day Jesus said this in John 8,
Your father Abraham rejoiced as he looked forward to my coming. He saw it and was glad”. The people said, “You aren’t even fifty years old. How can you say you have seen Abraham?
Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I AM! At that point they picked up stones to throw at him. But Jesus was hidden from them and left the Temple.”
The writer of the letter to the Hebrews in the New testament rhetorically asked his audience a list of questions in his opening chapter:
For God never said to any angel what he said to Jesus:
    “You are my Son.
Today I have become your Father.[a]”
    God also said,
    “I will be his Father,
and he will be my Son.”[b]
6 And when he brought his supreme[c] Son into the world, God said,[d]
“Let all of God’s angels worship him.”[e]
7 Regarding the angels, he says,
“He sends his angels like the winds,
his servants like flames of fire.”[f]
8 But to the Son he says,
“Your throne, O God (referring to Jesus), endures forever and ever.
You rule with a scepter of justice.
9 You love justice and hate evil.
Therefore, O God, your God has anointed you,
pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else.”[g]
10 He also says to the Son,
“In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundation of the earth
and made the heavens with your hands.
11 They will perish, but you remain forever.
They will wear out like old clothing.
12 You will fold them up like a cloak
and discard them like old clothing.
    But you are always the same;
    you will live forever.”[h]
13 And God never said to any of the angels,
“Sit in the place of honor at my right hand
    until I humble your enemies,
making them a footstool under your feet.”[i]

From just a few passages it is very clear that Jesus is not portrayed in the bible as some regular individual or just another angel, but in fact the bible REALLY teaches He is the Son of God. This a very big deal.

Although we have focused on Jehovah’s witnesses, God in actuality does not want us marrying anyone whose faith is not in Jesus Christ. We can’t marry people who belong to other religions and expect them to “Change Later”.

Many people have fallen into this trap and think that if they live a godly life, it will cause the man or woman to want Christ. While this is a possibility, you don’t enter into a marriage under God with this in mind. It doesn’t matter how nice, courteous, catering, sweet-talking, how many Abs he can fit into 1 chest, nor her shape and figure, marrying a non-believer is dangerous.
Solomon, the son of David and the Wisest Man to ever live, was given his wisdom by God. People from all over the known world came to see and observe him. His wisdom poured out into the book of proverbs is so mind blowing, I know unbelievers today who read and discuss it!

Yet in 1 Kings 11, the writer records that Solomon had a change in circumstances that not only changed the direction of his life but affected the state of Israel for years to come.

He started marrying women outside of Israel. His first mistake was marrying an Egyptian woman then he married women from Moab, Ammon, Edom, and etc.
You’re probably saying “what’s wrong with Solomon marrying women from nations outside of Israel. Well when you marry someone you don’t just take on the person, but you take on everything that comes along with them. Not only did Solomon receive these wives, but these wives also brought their customs, religions, practices with them.

Solomon may have thought “surely I can be an influence over them and they will serve the God of Israel”, but in actuality according to verse 3 his wives turned his heart away from God.

Solomon would go on to do unfathomable things. He abandoned all the practices that were instituted by Moses and now was fully committed to serving the false idol gods from these other countries. Not just for himself, but he turned Israel on to these practices as well.
All because he thought he could change these women…

See we can’t change people spiritually, only God can do that. A person might be able to conform their actions for a “period of time”, but eventually they will revert back to who they truly are unless the Spirit of the Living God comes in and changes their Stony heart into a Heart of Flesh (Ezekiel 36:26, 2 Corinthians 8:10)

Not only can we not date people from other religions, but we can’t even date every Christian!
Reading this right now you might be thinking what?!?
    Let me further explain…

My former pastor Dr. Rick V. Layton about 15 years ago taught a series of messages on Relationships for about a span of 2 months. Two of his messages within that series was dedicated to people who were single titled “21 Questions to ask a potential Spouse”. Now I don’t still have the notes readily accessible, but I will never forget the first 2 questions.

Question #1 was “Are you a Christian”?

I remember him stating that if they say no to this question there is no need to continue with the other 20 questions and this is not a potential mate.

Question #2 “What kind of Christian are you”?

He went on to expound that If you are a Christian who for example studies the word diligently, spends time with God every day, attends church not just on Sunday but during the week, believes in giving a portion of your finances consistently, serves regularly in different capacities within your ministry and etc. and you go marry a person who only reads their bible when directed during the Sunday Sermon by the pastor, doesn’t spend any of their personal time with God, never attends during the week and if they do attend on Sundays they act totally disinterested, sees themselves as the one in need and doesn’t see a need to give anything, goes to their current church because the services are over in about an hour and has no desire to serve in any capacity in the ministry.
This person might be a born-again believer, they might have their name written in the lamb’s book of life, they might already be seated in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus, but much like Solomon they have allowed this fallen World to have more influence on their thinking than the Word of God and because of that, they’re living like a Christian Atheist! Believing in God, but living as if He doesn’t exist!

Marrying somebody who is not on the same level in your walk with Christ or anywhere remotely close is not a good idea. Trust me, this is going to cause problems further down the road. Before marrying, you should want to eliminate as many red flags as possible. Marriage is already challenging because 2 people from different backgrounds have come together and are in the lifelong process of becoming one through the help of the Holy Spirit. Don’t allow their attractiveness to overshadow what Holy Spirit is trying to communicate with you.
    You might be saying:

But Brother Gavilan “My options are limited. All the men/women who are dedicated to God are ALREADY MARRIED. My whole life is going to pass away before I find a spouse who meets all the criteria you mentioned”!
Many people today in the body who are single focus on what they do NOT have and don’t focus what they do have:

Having the freedom to serve God in any capacity that they choose.

Paul once wrote in 1 Corinthians 7:32-35:

“I want you to be free from the concerns of this life. An unmarried man can spend his time doing the Lord’s work and thinking how to please him. 33 But a married man has to think about his earthly responsibilities and how to please his wife. 34 His interests are divided. In the same way, a woman who is no longer married or has never been married can be devoted to the Lord and holy in body and in spirit. But a married woman has to think about her earthly responsibilities and how to please her husband. 35 I am saying this for your benefit, not to place restrictions on you. I want you to do whatever will help you serve the Lord best, with as few distractions as possible.”

The Apostle Paul was in no way discouraging Christians from marrying, but he wanted to give them another perspective that sometimes for a duration of our earthly life, it might be best to wait and do all what God has in your heart before the Husband/wife, the 1,2,3,4 children and etc. come along.

Once you get married, there are many responsibilities that come with this union. Your wife isn’t going to be trying to hear
“I got to go to the church because we got X, Y, and Z going on”,
but the electricity off in the house because you aren’t working a job. Likewise, that husband isn’t going to want to hear about you serving at the rescue mission by feeding the homeless and cleaning up their facility and your house is a mess and the words “home cooked meal” is a forgotten phrase.
Be thankful for whatever situation you are currently in and trust God. Jesus told his followers in Matthew 6:33 to
“Seek first the kingdom of God ABOVE everything and everything else you need will be provided for you.”

Trust God that in His timing, He will provide the kind of mate that not only you desire, but one that he desires for you.
If God could make water come forth from a Rock to nourish the Children of Israel while in the desert, then surely, he can provide a spouse that will not only love you, but ABOVE all LOVE his son Jesus.

  • Have you ever been so surprised by a statement that upon hearing it you were literally at a loss for words???

One morning a while back, I noticed that the rear driver side tire was just about completely flat on one of my cars. I aired it up temporarily, but knew it was going to need servicing later.

After getting finished with my work for that day, I headed to a tire shop I was familiar with in a neighborhood that I lived in for a long time. While I was waiting on the tire work to be completed, I noticed a rather large milk truck pulling in to the shop. This wasn’t just any milk truck.

It was a FULLY customized milk truck with religious wording on every side. Across the driver and passenger side printed in huge letters was “Truth Seekers“. A black man gets out the truck and is dressed in ALL black. He’s got a t-shirt on that says “Holy Ghost Power”. Across his belt says “Tool of God”. The hat he was wearing even had religious wording on it.

I have to admit I was impressed lol.

So I asked what form of ministry he was in? He paused, gave me a funny look, and then went into “educating me” in this long spill using BIG words making him sound super intellectual in a spiritual way.

I felt like I was listening to a “Religious Version” of Stephen A. Smith.

Nothing he said really ever made sense even though on the surface it “sounded cool”. We went on like this for a little while and I’m thinking to myself he’s just one of those “super deep” Christians lol.

Midway through the conversation I sensed Holy Spirit wanting me to ask

“What he believed happens after we die?”

Which in my mind was ridiculous to ask because I’m looking at his appearance and his vehicle and hearing him talk and I figured that would be a ridiculous question.
But I yielded and asked him anyway and He says

    “Nothing”

    So I responded

“Are you saying you don’t believe in a Heaven and Hell”?

    He responds

“No such thing. No such thing. This life we living right now is either your Heaven or Hell”.

At this point I was in UTTER SHOCK to say the least and was at a loss of words for about 10 seconds.

Just in case you forgot his t-shirt said HOLY GHOST POWER for goodness sake!?! I was NOT expecting him to say that!

So by this time I felt the need to share the gospel. Everything I “assumed” about his beliefs went out the door. “Assuming” he was familiar with the bible I asked his thoughts on John 3:16.

He ends up telling me that the scripture is about Jesus saving us from perishing without knowledge of who we really are as “BLACK MEN”.

He finishes up by telling me he was God (my eyebrows touched my hairline when he said that) and that his job is going out to awaken other young black brothers depraved of TRUE knowledge “such as myself” that we are Gods as well and that he hopes to see us liberated from the “White Man’s RELIGION“.

Which leads me to my topic question…

Is Christianity actually the “White Man’s Religion”?

Have I been deceived all my life?

If you are of African descent, have you been deceived as well?

Now this was not the first nor the last time I heard something along these lines from someone which is one of the primary reasons I decided to delve into this topic because if this is true, hundreds of millions of people have been conned into something that is a flat out lie.

I remember reading the Autobiography of Malcolm X and him being quoted as saying:

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is malcolm-x.jpg.jpg

Christianity is a religion DESIGNED for SLAVES and Negro Preachers are a CURSE to the Black Man“.

Just like Malcolm, EVERY person that I’ve spoken to over the last decade who hold to this line of thinking at some point in the conversation refer to the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade that took place over the course of several hundred years. I honestly don’t have the best words to describe that period, but it was ATROCIOUS.

According to Phillip Curtin’s book “The Atlantic Slave trade: A Census“, for about 400 years of operation, the Atlantic Slave trade removed approximately 11.7 million people from West and Central Africa with the intention of making them slaves in Europe, the Americas, or on islands off the coast of Africa. Only about 10 million according to him made it to their destination. The rest died while in port, during the sea voyage, or upon arrival in a new land. Other historians for example John Henrik Clark in his book “Christopher Columbus and the Afrikan Holocaust” have thrown out numbers as large as 100 million Africans were taken! Whether it was 10 or 100 million, The Atlantic Slave Trade was one of the most devastating events in WORLD HISTORY.

People were ripped away from there families and communities and taken to some foreign land where they were treated like ANIMALS/PROPERTY which is why some refer to that period of time as Chattel Slavery.

To be honest in my opinion, animals were treated FAR BETTER than them.

Conditions on board of the ship were appalling. The men were packed together below deck and were secured by leg irons. The space was so cramped they were forced to crouch or lie down. Women and children were kept in separate quarters, sometimes on deck, allowing them limited freedom of movement, but this also exposed them to violence and sexual abuse from the crew.
Below is a picture of the Slave ship “Brooks” circulated by some Abolitionists in the 18th century

The air in those quarters was foul and disgusting. Usually because of dead bodies and especially Feces (Poop) EVERYWHERE. Seasickness was common and the heat was oppressive. The lack of sanitation and suffocating conditions meant there was a constant threat of disease. Epidemics of fever and smallpox were frequent. Captives endured these conditions for about two months, sometimes longer!
The combination of disease, inadequate food, and punishment took a heavy toll on the slaves. Surviving records suggest that until the 1750’s one in five Africans on board the ship died before arrival. Many Africans, if having the opportunity, jumped into the ocean to their death. Seeing that as BETTER than living out the rest of their life as a slave to the White man.

So for many African Americans this is still to this day a VERY sensitive issue including myself about what took place to our ancestors and rightfully so.

Regardless of what our current president believes, America was NOT GREAT during this time.

White Americans wanted to strip these newly transported Africans of everything they once knew. They were FORCED to take on new names, FORCED to learn and talk in a new language, and also FORCED away from any of their “Heathen Religions” of old into believing the teachings from the BIBLE. White Americans saw this as a means to help bring the slaves into a form of mental bondage which they felt would keep the Slaves from revolting which was always at their UTMOST CONCERN.

Many White American Preachers particularly in the South would use SPECIALLY SELECTED SCRIPTURES from the bible to keep the slaves in submission. Despite well-known incidences such as the Slave Revolt in Haiti (1791) the unfulfilled revolts of Gabriel Prosser (1800) and Denmark Vessey (1822), Nat Turner’s Revolt (1831), and a myriad of others, this strategy was very successful in large part by the Slave Owners. Many slaves at FIRST saw embracing this religion as a way to please their slave masters hopefully diverting further punishment against themselves.
As some slaves began to learn to read, they learned that much of what Slave Masters taught was NOT ACCURATE and they were MISLEADING them by incorrectly teaching the bible e.g. Nat Turner. Also many of the events recorded in both the Old and New testament of the bible brought a sense of peace and hope to the slaves. According to E.E. Cleveland in his book “Free at Last”, The hope for the African was that one day just like the children of Israel suffered under the hands of the Egyptians, they too would escape the suffering from the White Europeans/Americans and eventually make it to Heaven.

And the Lord said: “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites. Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” Exodus 3:7-11

Now even though African slaves found peace and hope in passages such as these in what they read and heard within the pages of the bible, it doesn’t mean necessarily we should be wasting our time with it in Christianity today.

If Christianity was some “clever scheme” developed by White Europeans/Americans to keep African Slaves in bondage and from revolting then we are currently and have been wasting our time for hundreds of years.

But here is the thing that every single time people who hold to this line of thinking have failed to either bring up knowingly during my conversations with them or on many occasions quite frankly just didn’t know.

Christianity is NOT a religion founded by White Europeans.

Christianity did not START in the 1500’s as a means to give African slaves false hope during their time of captivity.

On the contrary, Christianity had been going on BEFORE the “Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade”.

Christianity actually began during the reign of one of the greatest and most known empires of the world:

    The Roman Empire (330 B.C- A.D. 410)

Historians both Religious & Secular (Non-Christian) date the beginning of Christianity around the year A.D. 30.

This is almost 1600 years BEFORE the Trans-Atlantic Slave trade.

    Also

Christianity is the most DOCUMENTED WORLD Religion by far.

    It’s not even close.

The ridiculous assertion from Black critics such as Yosef Ben Jochannan in his book ” A Chronology of the Bible” and a myriad of other popular Afrocentrists over the last century and a half that the bible was ALTERED by “Whites” to condone slavery and deceive blacks up to present day is completely UNFACTUAL and down right DECEPTIVE.

In order to know the truth of what was originally written BEFORE the African Slave Trade all you have to do is be willing to learn a new language…

    KOINE (Common) Greek

Koine Greek was the language that the 27 letters in the New Testament were originally written.

You might be thinking right now…

“Why would the New Testament be written in Greek if Jesus and his disciples spoke and knew Hebrew and Aramaic and the Old Testament was written in these languages as well?

Because during the time these letters were written (A.D. 50-90), Greek was the common language in the Known World. Even for most Hebrews, the MOST popularly read “Old Testament” during this time was the Greek Septuagint. Also since Jesus commanded his followers to go into ALL the World and make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20), What language made the most sense to write letters in???

The one most COMMON: KOINE GREEK

There are over 5,700 Greek manuscripts housed in museums around the World. The oldest manuscript to date is a fragment from the Gospel of John identified as P52 (Papyrus 52- Papryus is a type of material that was used by scribes to make copies of the scriptures on during this time).

It can be located in the Rylands Museum in Manchester, United Kingdom.

CRITICS: I mentioned that just in case you wanted to take some vacation time off and travel there to verify it 🙂

It is 2 sided with the front containing John 18:31-33 and the back containing John 18: 37-38. Secular (Non- Christian) Critics such as Bart Erhman have even conceded the date of this fragment from within the MID SECOND CENTURY (A. D. 160).
As I stated earlier, it is definitely TRUE that Whites mislead and deceived African slaves by taking certain passages out of context from the bible, but completely FALSE that they made changes to the bible because of the evidence of the Greek manuscripts from over a 1500 years prior.

Now I would like to mention this FACT:

No matter who you are or where you live, we are ALL biased towards something. Our present thinking has been shaped in many ways by where we were born, our parents and the environment of our upbringing, the religious backgrounds to which we have been introduced and raised in, friends, teachers, professors, television, social media and etc.

Why do I mention this you say?

Because one important factor to properly understand many of the things that are said within the bible is to understand the context with which is was written in.

It’s going to be pretty hard to understand any of it if you’re attempting to read a

1st CENTURY text through “21st CENTURY EYES”.

For example, When you come across scriptures such as 1 Peter 2:18-20 and PETER is giving instructions to SLAVES who have converted to Christianity, you have to keep in mind this was during the Roman Empire NOT THE TRANS-ATLANTIC SLAVE TRADE.
There is a huge difference between the two when talking about SLAVERY. According to Roman-Greco Historian Mark Cartwright during the Roman Empire:

    1. Slavery was NOT based on SKIN COLOR but was a CLASS-BASED SYSTEM.
    2. A lot of slaves were captured during war against other countries.
    3. Some even sold themselves into Slavery for instance if they were very impoverished.
    4. As much as one third of the Roman population were slaves, and another third had been slaves earlier in life. It was common for freeborn men and women to work side-by-side with slaves as street sweepers, dockworkers, households, agriculture, mines, the military, manufacturing workshops, construction and a wide range of services within the city.
    5. A lot of Slaves were WELL-EDUCATED and held what we consider today very prestigious positions e.g. Accountants, Physicians and Teachers.
    6. Roman Slave Owners freed their slaves outright sometimes or in some cases allowed the Slaves to buy their freedom. After buying their freedom, some even became Roman Citizens and in some cases became SLAVES OWNERS THEMSELVES. One famous example was the freedman C. Caecilius Isidorus who would eventually own over 4,000 slaves!

NONE of previous statements I just made sound anything like what was experienced in the Americas during the TRANS-ATLANTIC SLAVE TRADE.

Christianity on the other hand has been EMBRACED by Africans since the PHYSICAL (not mental) Resurrection of Christ.

One of the FIRST Gentile (Non-Jewish) converts mentioned after the ascension of Jesus into heaven is from:

    AFRICA

In Acts of the Apostles 8: 26-40, We find the account of the ETHIOPIAN Eunuch and Phillip crossing paths:

And there was an Ethiopian, eunuch, a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure. He had come to Jerusalem to worship and was returning, seated in his chariot, and he was reading the prophet Isaiah. And the Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and join this chariot.” So Philip ran to him and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?”And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. Now the passage of the Scripture that he was reading was this (Isaiah 53):

“Like a sheep he was led to the slaughter
and like a lamb before its shearer is silent,
so he opens not his mouth.
In his humiliation justice was denied him.
    Who can describe his generation?
For his life is taken away from the earth.”

And the eunuch said to Philip, “About whom, I ask you, does the prophet say this, about himself or about someone else?”Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning with this Scripture he told him the good news about Jesus. And as they were going along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “See, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized?” And he commanded the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water, Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him. And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and the eunuch saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing.

Critics: If White Christians during slavery crafted/ twisted the scripture texts (as some have asserted to me), why would they have a Black African riding in AUTHORITY, on a CHARIOT, in charge of TREASURE with a scroll and then show the Jewish Christian Phillip walking on foot?!?

    Makes no sense!

Critics: “Well, that’s just stuff out of the Bible, I do NOT TRUST/BELIEVE the Bible. Unless there’s evidence outside of the Bible I do NOT believe it.

     Did you know that….

Three of the most famous Theologians and Apologists from Early Christian Church history are from AFRICA:

Origen (182-254 A.D.) was the second leader at the Famous School of Alexandria in Egypt.

Tertullian (160-220 A.D.) Great author and apologist who defended the the Doctrine of the Trinity. He also made the famous statement,

“What has Athens to do with Jerusalem?”

He was referring to the difference between “Man’s thoughts” (Philosophy) and God’s Word (Theology).

    Augustine of Hippo (354-430 A.D.)

He was a major figure in bringing Christianity to dominance in the previously pagan Roman Empire.

*NONE of these AFRICANS were Slaves by the way*

    ALSO

    DID YOU KNOW THAT…

Powerful African Kingdoms such as Wakanda (I’m Kidding)

    Being Serious now…

Powerful African Kingdoms for example in Ethiopia embraced Christianity when Ancestral worship was very common in neighboring countries.

One of the most famous African Kingdoms was led by…

    KING EZANA

The 4th century King of Aksum, which was a powerful nation within Ethiopia, was converted to Christianity.

*King Ezana was NOT FORCED into Christianity, on the contrary He EMBRACED it*

So much so that afterwards he declared Aksum as a Christian Nation!

We have archaeological evidence of this because King Ezana inscribed on several stones such as these about his conversion to Christianity and also recorded his victorious conquests.

Coins made also by the Aksumites bear a cross behind King Ezana were discovered throughout the 20th Century.

    axum coins

Some of these coins are being housed currently at the British Museum in London, England.

CRITICS: Just in case you wanted to use some of your vacation time and go there 🙂

What is it that these few Africans from long ago mentioned above could see in the beauty of the Christian Gospel?

The same PERSON I saw over a decade ago which is WHO I hope you can see right now…

    JESUS

Every human being who has ever lived has something in common:

    We are all DISEASED.

A quick study of some of the world’s largest religions such as Islam (5 pillars), Hinduism (read the Bhagavad Gita), Buddhism (8 Fold Path) will show that they all attempt at trying to deal with this disease known as : SIN

Many people around the World believe by trying to OVERCOME SIN THEMSELVES that they might be able to achieve PARADISE (Islam), MOKSHA (Hinduism), or NIRVANA (Buddhism).

    but herein lies the Problem

NO ONE can be justified by their works and good deeds (Romans 3:10, Psalms 14:3, Acts 4:12).

God, the creator of the Universe, is Holy and Righteous.

No amount of good works can be done to satisfy the debt owed by mankind.

The only way Man can satisfy this debt is by God performing an act of GRACE doing something for mankind that they could never do for themselves.

What “Act of Grace” did God perform for you and I?

The Apostle Paul makes it very clear in Ephesians 2:1-9

“At one time you were like a dead person because of the things you did wrong and your offenses against God. You used to live like people of this world. You followed the rule of a destructive spiritual power. This is the spirit of disobedience to God’s will that is now at work in persons whose lives are characterized by disobedience.  At one time you were like those persons. All of you used to do whatever felt good and whatever you thought you wanted so that you were children headed for punishment just like everyone else.

However, God is rich in mercy. He BROUGHT us to life with Christ while we were dead as a result of those things that we did wrong. He did this because of the great love that he has for us.  And God raised us up and seated us in the heavens with Christ Jesus.  God did this to show future generations the greatness of his grace by the goodness that God has shown us in Christ Jesus.

You are saved by God’s grace because of your FAITH. This salvation is God’s gift.

It’s not something you possessed. It’s not something you did that you can be proud of”.

    What’s is God’s gift?

    Jesus

Jesus never says “What can you do to EARN my love”

    rather Jesus says

Look at what I have ALREADY DONE because of MY LOVE FOR YOU”.

From the World’s viewpoint, Christianity is just “another religion“.

On the contrary for the Follower of Jesus

It’s a RELATIONSHIP we experience with Him EVERYDAY.

The brother I mentioned at the beginning stated that in John 3:16, this scripture is referring to Black people.

This is FAR FROM THE TRUTH.

Neither is it only for White People!

    John 3:16 applies to ANYONE!

NO MATTER WHAT YOUR SKIN PIGMENTATION IS!

Jesus died to redeem the lives of people from

    ALL ETHNICITIES

so that one day we will experience what the Apostle John saw (Revelation 7:9-10):

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from EVERY nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice:

    “Salvation belongs to our God,
    who sits on the throne,
    and to the Lamb.”

As of now, It has been 19 years since I started following Christ. Man times flies. Highs and lows along the way. Times that bring about a smile and other times I’m ashamed of. If I could go back and give advice to myself at the age of 21 it would probably be along these lines:

    1. Don’t get caught up in making prayer some sort of “super spiritualized” ritual. Drop the king James accent bro. God knows you weren’t born in the 1600’s. Don’t try to focus on making prayer a certain time length. Just pray whenever and however for how long ever. Jesus is always listening and he wants to tell you some things too.

    2. Don’t make the first place you start reading the bible be in the book of Leviticus lol. Go through and through the new testament and work your way back through the old testament. Might make more sense that way.

    3. Always remember when studying the bible that the New testament in particular contains 27 LETTERS. It’s not a “quote book”. Steer away from taking the approach “what does this mean to me” but instead ” what is God WHO inspired the author of this letter trying to get across”. NEVER base a complete MAJOR bible belief based on an “isolated scripture” you find somewhere. Also NEVER FORGET that EVERY letter is written to CHRISTIANS and NOT people in the world.

    4. Don’t get upset, sad, and confused when people tell you you’re taking Christianity too SERIOUS. MANY MANY people throughout the centuries since Christ’s ascension have been KILLED because of this, so you can never take it serious enough. Preachers aren’t the only ones who are supposed to take this serious.

    5. When sharing the gospel, you might not want to mention Hell within the first 5 words of a Conversation. They might not talk with you very long lol. So it would be best to maybe wait until the 6th word 😉

    6. Be patient with yourself and others. The Apostle Paul didn’t get to the level we saw him at the end of his life over night. The Christian life is a life of stages. Just like you have grown physically since you were born, you will see spiritual growth over time as well.

    7. Find other believers who you can confide your struggles with temptations, sins or whatever else. Never be to afraid to share what your struggling with no matter how long you’ve been following Christ. This is one of the main reasons God has commanded us “to not forsake gathering with other Christians on a regular basis (Hebrews 10:24-25)”

    8. Respect Christian leaders and what God has and is doing in their lives but NEVER elevate them to such a level where you have more reverence for them and their teachings than God.

    9. Whatever you see very popular in the world, even if you see professing Christians going that direction too, use God’s word and the Holy Spirit as the determining factor and not your feelings.

    10. Never look down on people who choose to not follow Christ and remain in a life of sin because you too were once like that and could care less about Jesus or anything pertaining to Christianity.

    11. Not if but when things start to get rough and you find yourself going through the “why me?” Syndrome. Always remember that there are Christians all over the world who would gladly switch to be in your shoes. Experiencing far more SEVERE persecution, lack of food or water, health issues, horribly bad living conditions compared to “American Standards” and many other things.

    12. Lastly, Always remember the Christian Life is a race. Jesus got you started and He’s at the end waiting. Don’t allow anything this world has to offer keep you from finishing. After its all over, you’ll look back with Jesus and know without a doubt it was so worth it.

As a kid, when it came to Easter Sunday I knew for example I could expect “certain things”:

    1. a fresh haircut (hopefully not from my uncle)
    2. an easter speech to recite
    3. an egg hunt
    4. a home cooked “soul food” meal that afternoon PREFERABLY from my grandma (I hope my mom doesn’t see this lol).
    5. Not to forget the latest in spring fashion, a New Outfit182599_10200447239401857_1139083380_n

The day prior was ALWAYS super busy. Running around handling the listed things above took up a lot of time. So much energy and effort was spent because EVERYTHING had to be just right come Sunday. Get up super early on Sunday, get dressed and ready and head off for the BIG DAY.

Growing up in a small baptist church like I did, You knew EVERYONE who came on a regular basis. So when one of the big 3 holidays rolled around like Mother’s day, Christmas, and in this case Easter, you knew to expect 3 types of people:

    • Regular Attendees
    • church members on roll who only came for days like this
    • New Visitors

If there was one part I did look forward too it was seeing everyone in their BRAND NEW flashy suits and dresses. I’m not really sure why, but people felt a level of  EXTREME boldness to wear things that normally they would NEVER wear. It was kind of like having a front row seat on the red carpet at the Oscar Awards!

    pink-suit757e26ca2c11ae299600c21f06189dbd

The church would be so packed to hear the sermon and when I say packed I mean PACKED! There were times they had to bring fold out chairs so people could sit in the choir stands and in the aisles. People were shouting, screaming, and praising God. It was REALLY REALLY intense in a good way. On the other hand since my family did take us to church every sunday, I never could understand why there was such excitement and enthusiasm from everyone on this particular sunday verses any other. The Pastor we had ALWAYS ended every message EVERY week with a brief summary of Jesus last 24 hours with at least telling the congregation about Jesus trip to Calvary, dying on the Cross and rising from the dead. So for me as a kid I didn’t really see what the big deal was all about. Especially since we were basically hearing the same sermon from last week pretty much.

After the sermon was over, it was kind of like a family reunion TIMES 2. You catch up with all the people you haven’t seen since….well…..Christmas.

After that lasts for about 20-30 minutes give or take and you finish getting compliments on how cute you are with your new outfit from the older women(as if you haven’t been in the past lol) you get your stuff and leave. Meet up with family afterwards and not really talk about the sermon (because everyone heard the same sermon pretty much), but about who all came, what they wore, who messed up on the easter speeches and so on.

                     2 DAYS LATER….

To be honest I’m being generous saying 2 days but Come Tuesday, I had completely forgot about EVERYTHING that took place and was said during the church service. Don’t get me wrong, if asked by someone I could tell them some things, but it had no bearing on my thought process and everyday life. By Tuesday, it was a PAST event. Kind of like the haircut I got on the Saturday before. Nothing more was said or mentioned about Easter Sunday by anyone I knew other than the clearance sales at stores trying to get rid of excess products.

For me Easter sunday WAS great, but therein lies the problem it WAS

So is the same for MANY people today young and old.

On “Easter Sunday”, the average Pastor throughout America can expect to see his average attendance at least DOUBLE in numbers and it’s usually to hear him preach the exact same thing plus a few tweaks give or take that he did the prior year and all the ones before that. Looking back over the years of my youth and even still today, I often wonder do people actually consider how SIGNIFICANT this day actually is???

We aren’t just talking any kind of holiday here (If you want to call it that).

    Jesus ROSE from the DEAD

I don’t know about you, but that’s not something I hear about or see everyday. The last time I went to a local cemetery, I don’t recall seeing any OPEN tombs. I’m not sure the last time you might have read through the gospels particularly the last couple chapters of each account, but this was a REALLY REALLY BIG DEAL and I’m not just referring to believers but also NON-believers.

I try to imagine sometimes If I were living in the 1st century as a Jew. Having had the opportunity to follow Jesus around the Palestine area for 3 years. Being able to witness the miracles, healings and hear the teachings and envision that this is the long awaited Messiah that not just myself but my ancestors have longed for! Then all of a sudden, things go TERRIBLY wrong. Jesus is betrayed by one of his closest friends and gets taken into custody by the Jews and Romans. I watch him be BRUTALLY beaten and whipped with a flagrum or famously named Cat O’ Nine tails. So much so that despite what we see in the movies and probably envision in our minds a person wouldn’t have even known it was Jesus anymore. The prophet Isaiah approximately 700 YEARS PRIOR to this event mentioned what his appearance would be like after the torture he would receive.

“But many were amazed when they saw him. His face was so disfigured he seemed hardly human, and from his appearance, one would scarcely know he was a man” Isaiah 52:14 NLT

Having lost a tremendous amount of blood and being EXTREMELY weak, I watch him attempt to carry a 150-300 pound wooden Roman cross up a hill. After needing help to get up there, I watch him spend his last few hours trying to raise himself up while gasping for air. Being made a public example to show what happens when someone tries to defy the Roman government just like the other 2 men beside him and many others whom the Romans crucified during their 400 year reign.

Afterwards, I watch him be placed in a tomb with a large rock placed in front that weighed at least 500 pounds. The rock took at least 2 healthy men to move in front of the tomb.

All my hopes, dreams, and expectations gone down the drain…….

Until a few days later some of the women followers come frantically telling us that not only is the tomb EMPTY but they SAW Jesus. Without having much time to consider what to think Jesus appears right in the midst of everyone and we start exchanging hugs, embracing him, and crying with tears of joy.

As a 21st century believer looking back I can only try to imagine what this must have been like for them. The GREATEST MIRACLE they ever saw!

We aren’t talking some hallucination or well-crafted mythical lie as some people try to assert. This REALLY HAPPENED! This was so significant that Jesus followers were willing to be IMPRISONED, TORTURED, & KILLED because they were CONVINCED of his resurrection after seeing him for 40 days EAT and TALK while TOUCHING him SPECIFICALLY in the areas he was pierced by the Roman guards (John 20:19-30, 21:1-14, 2 Peter 1:16, 1 John 1:1, Acts 1:1-3).

“Easter Sunday” wasn’t just something they thought about ONCE a year. It was something they thought about EVERY DAY of the year. It wasn’t something in their “distant memory”, but it became an EVERY DAY REALITY. Not only did they think about it daily, but they lived like it daily. It was a day that RADICALLY changed their lives and has continued to change the lives of MANY people throughout the centuries.

Think about it, If there was NO resurrection there is NO Christianity. No Apostles, no New Testament, and no Gentile Believers (Non-Jewish). No estimated 400,000 churches across America alone. No estimated 5.5 million christian full-time workers and 400,000 christian missionaries across the globe. No Salvation Army’s, christian housing shelters, food kitchens, and orphanages. No bibles translated in over 4,400 languages. No seminaries and bible colleges. No Braille reading system for the blind. I could really keep going on and on, but most importantly NO hope for life after death with God. No union with Christ. No chance of seeing all of God’s creation in a state it was intended to be without sin and the reason for all of this is because

We would still be LOST in our sins (1 Corinthians 15).

So when I stated that I am not of fan of “Easter Sunday”, I meant that I’m not a fan of viewing it as some day that happened a really really long time ago that I only think about “ONCE a year”. On the contrary..

I’m a fan of the RESURRECTION. I’m a fan of being in remembrance EVERYDAY that Christ has RISEN and not just thinking about it for ONE DAY.

This single event has changed human history in more ways than I can fathom in my finite mind.

It RADICALLY changed the lives of Jesus 1st century followers.

It has continued to RADICALLY change the lives of Jesus followers over the last 2000 years.

It has RADICALLY changed my life and will continue to change the lives of many others.

    The ULTIMATE question remains:

    Has it changed YOU?

  • Anti-Christian-Symbol

10 most common reasons I’ve been given over the last 12 years in no particular order from people not believing in God or choosing not to become a Christian:

    1. I believe in science and evolution which contain FACTS. God and the bible is just a bunch of fairy tales and myths.
    2. Jesus didn’t rise from the dead and neither do people. There is no afterlife. This life is it.
    3. There’s a bunch of religions. All of them lead to God
    4. White man religion
    5. I can’t serve a God who would allow so much evil and suffering in the world.
    6. I don’t do “organized religion”. All these churches want is your money.
    7. As soon as I get myself together then I’ll become a christian.
    8. Churches are full of hypocrites
    9. The bible is full of contradictions and error.
    10. I believe in a Higher Power/energy source that created everything, but not in the sense of it being concerned about humans and what they’re doing.

I’ve heard a lot more, but these objections seem to get brought up more frequently than others. One thing I’ve learned over time is that if you’re a follower of Christ and desire to see people enter into a saving relationship with Jesus, you don’t have to know everything there is to know about God and the bible to share your faith with someone. Jesus doesn’t require that you and I first go to seminary and then become a expert theologian before we talk about Him with others. If that were the case, He would never have given the command first to 12 “low-classed” and “unlearned Jews”(Acts 4:13). Now by no means am I advocating that you should remain “spiritual dummies”. Just like we invest a lot of effort into being experts in our various career fields, hobbies, and sports to name a few, we should also put AT LEAST the same effort into growing in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus.

Something else to consider, the person you’re talking to doesn’t know everything there is to know about what they claim to believe. They might try to act like they do, but they don’t. If they did, they’d be God. Our goal is NOT to win an argument/debate but to win a soul to Christ. Never Forget forget this:

Ultimately, God is the one that is doing the work in bringing them into a relationship anyway. You’re just the tool, He’s the Mechanic (John 6:44, Acts 16:14).

That might have been a BAD analogy, but I think you get the point lol.

Furthermore, If you’re talking with a person and they express a different belief system and have objections, my advice would be to allow them to talk without interrupting.

    Ask questions like:

“Who and where did you get that information from?” or “What do you believe happens when we die?”.

These questions can lead to more dialogue. Ask OPEN-ENDED questions that make them EXPLAIN what they believe. In many conversations over the years when I ask “What do you mean by that exactly” in response to something they said (Sometimes I say that every time they make a statement), it becomes apparent to both of us that they really don’t know what they believe or talking about. I’ve come to learn over time

A lot of times people aren’t looking for reasons to believe the truth, but in actuality they are looking for reasons NOT to believe truth. Its called a “hardened heart” (Ephesians 4:18, Proverbs 28:14, Hebrews 3:8).

Don’t get sad if they don’t come to know Lord at that moment. Depending on where you live in the World you might here a lot of rejection. We are NOT just trying to get someone to PRAY A SPECIAL PRAYER, MAKE A DECISION, or ACCEPT JESUS INTO THEIR HEARTS. Such things are WIDELY POPULAR in many christian circles, but we see no evidence of the apostles or anyone throughout the New Testament trying to get people to do this. We’ve been commanded to make DISCIPLES (Matthew 28:19). Just commit to pray for that person that Holy Spirit will continue to send people their way, working to break up that “stony hard heart”.

Just like He did it for us, He’ll do it for them too…

    1. The Earth– The only planet known to man which is able to support life of any kind. Science has shown if the earth were only a very small fraction closer to the sun, the earth would be too hot to support life and if a fraction farther it would be too cold. The resources that are here are things that can’t be made in a science lab. Water, Oxygen, gravity, food, the beautiful landscapes and mountains, waterfalls, variety of animals and so on and so on. It’s obvious this planet was designed by someone with a “specific intent” in mind. Not by the cause of some RANDOM explosion.
    2. Reproduction system of every living thing on earth– I’ve never seen cats and dogs come together and produce an offspring. I’ve never seen a lizard and fish produce an offspring. I’ve never seen a human and a horse produce an offspring. Now I’ve heard of some crazy humans who tried sick things, but it’s not going to result in the reproduction of an offspring. Here’s the kicker: NEITHER HAS ANY SCIENTIST. It’s obvious this system was designed by someone with a “specific intent” in mind. Not by the cause of some RANDOM explosion.
    3. Blood– The most LIFE-ESSENTIAL thing outside of water and Oxygen on this planet. No human or animal can live w/o it. It’s not something that can be made in a lab. Not to forget, a giraffe’s blood won’t work for a human. Just a like a fish blood won’t work for a frog. Earlier this year I watched my daughter almost die because of a lack of it on several occasions while in the hospital waiting on a heart transplant, but soon as the doctors put some in her, I saw that color and life come back in her. Its obvious blood was designed by someone with a “specific intent” in mind. Not by the cause of some RANDOM explosion.
    4. World Morality– If I walked up to someone locally and asked Is it wrong kill another individual, or cheat someone out of some money, or sexually abuse a small child, or to lie, I can guarantee a normal sane individual would say YES. If I went to the deepest jungle in Africa (Maybe not to deep) and had an interpreter ask the same question I can guarantee that normal sane person would say the same thing. This same moral internal code has been documented throughout human existence. It’s obvious this internal moral code was designed by someone with a “specific intent” in mind. Not by the cause of some RANDOM explosion.
    5.  The Bible– Out of all of the books written throughout human history, this compilation of books claims to be God’s Word. Every Word is claimed to be ‘God-breathed”. All of the writings come from over 40 different authors over the course of 1500 years who come from various backgrounds which include kings, fishermen, a tax collector, a tent maker and so on. It was written in various places on 3 different continents (Africa, Asia, and Europe) and was written in 3 different languages (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek). From start to finish, the bible touches on tons of topics but there is one central theme throughout its entirety. Jesus The Christ. No man or men could have come up with this like some people assert. Not to forget this book isn’t just read by Christians. People from different religions around the world read this book. Some for critique and others just to read about the man Jesus. Which is one of the reasons it has been determined to be the most sold book in world history at over 5 billion copies and growing.  It’s obvious this compilation of books was inspired by someone with a “specific intent” in mind. Not by the cause of some RANDOM explosion.

Do I Have more reasons to believe God DOES exist? Of Course lol. Do I consider myself to be an expert in this subject matter? No lol, but I realized long ago I don’t need to be an expert to know if God exist because he left BASIC things we see and experience every day to end that discussion.

For 10 years of my life I followed and was in love with “My” Jesus and until recently in the last couple of years my thoughts have always remained the same about Him. “My” Jesus is totally in love with me and pleased with my life. I remember saying the “special prayer” to invite Him in My life and “My” Jesus has ONLY been concerned with making this earthly life as great as possible for me. “My” Jesus is so awesome because He doesn’t infringe on my daily life. As long as I attend a weekly church service and put some money in the bucket, “My” Jesus gets totally excited and looks to bless me beyond my “wildest dreams”.

“My” Jesus isn’t concerned for me reaching out to take care of the needy because quite frankly “My” Jesus recognizes that I’m the one in need. In need of more money, a bigger house, fancier cars and more electronic gadgets. “My” Jesus isn’t really concerned about me telling others about Him for 2 reasons. One reason is the fact that “My” Jesus has plenty of preachers and Hyper Christians who already do this and two “My” Jesus doesn’t want MY POPULARITY to be compromised with others. “My” Jesus knows I’m shy when it comes to things like this and would NEVER want me to do anything outside of MY comfort zone.

“My” Jesus doesn’t want me to focus on Heaven, but ONLY on this earthly life and the everyday issues that come along with it. “My” Jesus doesn’t really care if I spend time with Him on a daily basis in communication and bible study. “My” Jesus is totally aware that my day is FULL of obligations which include work, family life, hobbies, and my favorite television shows. Just as long as when things go “totally bad in my life” I spend enough quality time with him so “My” Jesus can get things back on track and then once everything is okay resume my normal activity. “My” Jesus isn’t concerned with sin because He already died for it a long time ago. “My” Jesus just doesn’t want my sin to become aware to the public to where I look like a hypocrite.

I could go on and on about “My” Jesus up until the day when I started reading the BIBLE IN CONTEXT and not just the parts that made me “feel good” and then I shockingly realized that “My” Jesus and probably the Jesus for MANY other people…

    DOESN’T EXIST
